New Monetization Policy
The best and easiest way to earn on YouTube is the YouTube Partner Program. This time, YouTube is reducing the requirements of the YouTube Partner Program, as a result of which many more creators can be included in the Partner Program easily. Let's know about YouTube's new monetization policy.
First, the Shopping Affiliate Program is open to US-based YouTubers who have more than 20,000 subscribers as part of the YouTube Partner Program. Its feature is expected to gradually spread to all parts of the world. The new terms of YouTube monetization are as follows:
- Must have at least 500 subscribers
- Must have 3 public uploads in last 90 days
- At least 3,000 watch hours in the last 12 months or 3 million shorts views in the last 90 days
Previously, YouTube required at least 1000 subscribers, 4000 watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million short views in the last 90 days to get monetization.
If a creator's channel meets the new requirements, they can apply for the Partner Program and get access to subscription tools like Super Thanks, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Channel Membership, and YouTube Shopping. However, creators who create videos over a long period of time may find the process of uploading at least three videos in the last 90 days a little difficult. But overall it is expected to be more convenient than before.
These new requirements will be implemented first in the US, UK, Canada, Taiwan and South Korea. The feature will then roll out to all countries that have a YouTube Partner Program.
The Google-owned company has been working on a new monetization tool for shorts creators for a long time. YouTube began sharing revenue from shorts with creators in February. In the 2022 fourth quarter earnings call, YouTube shorts reported 50 billion daily views. Last October, Meta reported that Instagram and Facebook combined had crossed 140 billion daily views of Reels.
